How to Get an MRI Order

A doctor's order is required before we can scan you — Medicare and most insurance plans require one. Here's who can write it, and how to get your signed order to us — plus a printable order form for your provider.

Why You Need a Doctor's Order

The real reason isn't paperwork — it's what happens if your scan finds something. Once our radiologist reads your images, they're responsible for what's in that report, including making sure it reaches a clinician who can act on it. The order names that clinician. Without one, a finding has nowhere to go: no one is on record to call you, explain what it means, and figure out the next step.

That's also why Medicare and most insurance plans require an order before a facility can perform an MRI — the requirement exists for the same reason. We can't schedule or run the scan without it, so it's the one thing you need before you book.

Who Can Write the Order

  • Physician (MD or DO)
  • Nurse practitioner (NP)
  • Physician assistant (PA)
  • Chiropractor (DC)
  • Physical therapist (DPT/PT)

What It Costs

Every scan we perform is a flat $399. We don't bill insurance, and we perform non-contrast studies only — no IV, no injection, no dye. The price covers the scan, the radiologist's read, and a CD of your images.
